Must have baby tool: Breast Pump

On our first two nights with our baby was really tough. Getting him to latch on and feed was a pain. He was crying and just not having any of it. We felt like we didn’t know what we were doing. Even if he did latch on, it was only for a little while because the milk was not in production yet.
We gave in and feed him some formula milk. That was easy. Then we put him back on the breast, but he had a hard time again.
Finally, we decided to try the breast pump. The name of the pump is Medela Pump In Style Advanced Backpack. The actual pump is built into the backpack.
It was a life saver. If my wife have to go shopping for a few hours, she can pump the milk and leave it with me. Make late night feedings easier too.
Anyways, make sure you get a breast pump when the time comes.

I never had a fancy pump….and rarely needed my hand pump, but my girl was a champ breast feeder. It doesn’t always work that way. It is definately a good idea to have a plan B.

We made sure that a breast pump is on the list of things to get before the baby comes. I must say that these pumps look pretty funny. Sometimes I think they look pretty high tech and other times I think they look like farm equipment

Have you gotten a Mei Tai yet? I got mine at www.all-natural-mommies.com You will love it when you go out a lot and get sick of hauling that stroller.

A friend was just asking me what to do to increase her milk supply - as her baby was not gaining weight.
I suggested expressing with a pump - straight after a breast feed - hopefully that would stimulate her breast more.
I see that Avent have a twin pump so you can do both breasts at the same time!
Great idea!
