Umbilical Cord Finally Off

One of the most unattractive parts of a newborn baby is the umbilical cord. It just doesn’t look nice on a cute baby.

Baby’s first poop did not look like poop at all. To my disgusted surprise, the poop look like sticky black tar. I was not ready to clean that up and change the diaper. (more…)

We’re only weeks away from the delivery date. There are so many things still left to do. We still need to purchase some items. Still need to assemble the baby crib. Get a car seat. Figure out how to handle the baby.

There was an interesting article about circumcision in the latest issue of Time Magazine. In 1965, 85% of U.S born babies were circumcised. It has been a downtrend since then. 77% in 1971, 65% in 1979 and finally 57% in 2005. It’s probably going to be below 50% in less than a decade. Of course, most of the decline came from immigrants who have babies in the U.S .

My wife signed us up for the childbirth class at NYU Medical Center. It’s a 3 hour class once a week for 5 weeks. The instructor is going to teach us about pregnancy, body changes, stages of the labor process and caring for the newborn baby.

Heart breaking stuff here.
This is from Elyse’s website:

Two weeks ago, a blessed Russian lady in Moscow gave birth to a 17 pound baby girl. That’s more than twice the “average” weight of newborns. She delivered the baby girl by cesarean section in a maternity clinic. The mother and child were both in good condition at the time. But now, the baby girl is in the special care of the local health department. Hopefully she pulls through.

Why can’t we just be like chickens and lay eggs? Just lay it somewhere and keep it warm. Then 1 month later a baby hatches from the egg.

It’s not easy finding a name for your baby. The name will follow them for a lifetime. We started our search by just calling out random names.
