There was an interesting article about circumcision in the latest issue of Time Magazine. In 1965, 85% of U.S born babies were circumcised. It has been a downtrend since then. 77% in 1971, 65% in 1979 and finally 57% in 2005. It’s probably going to be below 50% in less than a decade. Of course, most of the decline came from immigrants who have babies in the U.S .

We went to the supermarket for some junk food tonight. We slowly went through each aisle. Picked up some candies and drinks. In the drinks aisle, I noticed a familiar logo and color. It was the Hooters logo with some chick on it. I took a closer look. Lo and behold, it’s an official Hooters Energy Drink.

I was talking to this lady who is approaching 80 years old. I asked her what were her favorite years during her lifetime. She thought about it for a few seconds and then said (more…)

Technology has come a long way. A few decades ago, we didn’t find out the sex of our babies until they were born. Now we’re able to find out the sex by the 16th week. And latest technology allows you to choose the gender of your baby even before conception.

My wife signed us up for the childbirth class at NYU Medical Center. It’s a 3 hour class once a week for 5 weeks. The instructor is going to teach us about pregnancy, body changes, stages of the labor process and caring for the newborn baby.

I think I’m starting to have a stronger sense of fatherhood. I usually head to the casinos at Atlantic City,NJ with my buddies every few months. It was never a big deal, just a 2 and half hour drive. This last one I was not feeling good about going. I knew my wife would be fine at home. She’ll probably watch a bunch of shows, snack on junk food and call me a hundred times to check up on me. I was fine with that.

Today is our 3rd year wedding anniversary. Happy 3 years! We said from the beginning that we would go for a baby after two years and we did. Now the baby is coming in about two months. Every thing’s working out great. Here’s some nice pictures of where I propose to her: Gapstow Brigde In Central Park NYC

Maybe I’m bias, but I would say the 80’s cartoon kick today’s cartoon’s ass. There was definitely more violence in those cartoons. But it was in good fun. Here’s a list of them off my head:

It’s pretty common for first time moms to suffer from postpartum depression after giving birth. But it’s not limited to moms, dads can also develop depression during this period. Certain types of men have a greater chance of developing depression.

My co-worker ask me how it feels to know that I’ll be father soon. I never actually gave it much thought. After being a son for 29 years, now it’s my turn to be a father. I will be guiding my son’s early years. Teaching him life lessons that I acquired. Hopefully I can help him avoid some pitfalls that I fell in. But then again, life is about ups and downs. We learn from our mistakes. Sometime you just have let them learn on their own.
In the early 1900’s to 1970’s, the husbands waited in the waiting room while the wives gave birth in the delivery room. Sounds like a good deal. Something happened in the 80’s that changed all that.
